My name is Rachel Crane (maiden name Rachel Rey…) I became passionate about food at the tender age of 8, when I first learned to cook. For nearly the last two decades I’ve worked in many facets of the food industry throughout NYC and parts of CT. I began by attending and graduating culinary school (NYRS) under the tutelage of Chef Sam Kadko in 1997, then completing my externship at Paine Webber under the tutelage  of Chef Patrick Verre, then going on to work for various restaurants, catering companies, and agencies such as Mood Food, Richard Butel Culinary Professionals, and Kauffman Studios (Sesame Street, Imus in the Morning, The Cosby Show, and Lateline). I was also a food service supervisor at Katonah Four Winds Hospital in the beautiful Hudson Valley. I currently reside in CT with my husband  where I do free-lance catering. I’m currently a Kosher baker at a sustainable farm to table Jewish community. I enjoy learning, reading, listening to jazz,  practicing yoga (Kundalini), loving up my puppy girl,  jogging, blogging, roller-blading, and most of all, traveling.

This isn’t so much as a blog, as it is my own personal food journal to help me record and improve my food and technique. If there are any recipes you’re interested in, please don’t hesitate to ask. I’d be happy to share.

2015-My most recent culinary dream-come-true was taking a course with some of the greatest masters in the culinary world at the ICC, such as Jacques Torres, Bruno Verjus, Joe Murphy, and Andre Soltner, who personally taught me how to make a quenelle.
